Cotati

Hills, vineyards, towering redwood groves, and majestic oaks surround the city of Cotati's unique, downtown hexagonal square. La Plaza Park and its bandstand hosts a Kids' Day Annual Parade and Festival, a summertime farmers' market, and the Cotati Jazz Festival. Cotati's local flavor can perhaps best be experienced at the quirky Cotati Accordion Festival, which attracts thousands of aficionados of the instrument to La Plaza Park for a weekend of all things accordion. To maintain its small-town feel, Cotati residents voted in the 1990s to curtail growth by forbidding any annexation of land beyond a fixed urban boundary line. That ensures Cotati will remain a quiet residential community. True to its progressive Northern California roots, Cotati is home to FrogSong, one of the country’s first co-housing communities.

Small, vest-pocket parks abound, providing more than 45 acres of green space in the city of about 7,500 residents.

DINING

Down to Earth cafe is one of our favorite places to eat in Cotati. Love this local place! They have delicious food, with my and my partners favorite being the shells and cheese with extra chicken and the beignets. The staff can be a terse, but overall they are great!

SHOPPING

Olivers market is great! With roots in the produce business extend back over forty years, to the days when Steve Maass made his living selling produce off a roadside stand in San Francisco. He provided great products and service at roadside prices. A value that still holds true today. Steve founded Oliver’s Market in 1988 in Sonoma County. The original Oliver’s mission was simply “to create a store where people would enjoy shopping”.

ENTERTAINMENT

Situated in the center of Sonoma County along Highway 101, Cotati is a modern community with strong historic roots, particularly in agriculture and music.

Thanks to a gap in the mountains to the west, coastal fog often reaches Cotati in the summer, creating a milder, somewhat cooler climate than in neighboring communities such as Santa Rosa or Sebastopol.
